Tips and Tricks for Your Muir Woods Visit

A trip to the iconic redwoods is a must for visitors to the Bay! Be sure to get the most out of your visit. Must See Tours has put together a list of what you need to know before you go.

Parking must be reserved ahead of time

As much as we all love a spontaneous stroll through the redwoods, Muir Woods has a unique parking situation. Your space must be reserved ahead of time, without exception. Individuals traveling to the park can find more information on the National Park Services website.

Individuals and groups traveling with tour companies can skip this step. Plan your trip ahead of time, and schedule either a tour or a parking reservation.

Be aware of park etiquette

It’s understandable to get excited when visiting Muir Woods. Please be aware that there are areas of the park meant for quiet spaces. Respect park signage, and stay on marked official trails.

You may want to plan out your route before arrival. Muir Woods has 6 miles of trails that span from easy to strenuous. Some take a half hour, and some much longer. Plan accordingly, and bring water, sunscreen, and what else might be needed. Know what weather conditions can be expected on your visit day.

Muir Woods is surrounded by California State Park property. Trails may connect, and there is lots to see and do. Know what you’d like to see before arrival, or trust a tour company to bring you to the best sites.
